CLIF Bar Family Foundation

The CLIF Bar Family Foundation supports nonprofit grassroots organizations that have the ability to engage local groups, positively impact their communities, and focus most of their resources on useful and positive actions.

Grants are provided to nonprofit organizations throughout the United States, with some emphasis on California.

Through its Small Grants Program, the Foundation supports innovative small and mid-sized groups working to strengthen the food system and communities, enhance public health, and safeguard the environment and natural resources.

The Foundation's funding priorities include:

• protecting the Earth's beauty and bounty, including preserving wild places and backcountry, reducing waste and advancing renewable energy, and keeping climate action on the front burner;
   
• creating a robust and healthy food system, including expanding organic food and farming and reducing hunger and malnutrition;
   
• increasing opportunities for outdoor activity, including preserving open spaces and developing pedestrian- and bike-friendly towns and cities;
   
• reducing environmental health hazards, including improving air and water quality and reducing exposure to toxic materials; and,
   
• building stronger communities, including education, housing, youth access to arts and culture, and generating green jobs and small businesses.

Emphasis is given to efforts that demonstrate strong community ties and operate at the community level, and that promote positive change through both the projects and their implementation process.

The Foundation provides support through grants and gift card donations.

Grants are not made to/for:

• individuals;
• state agencies;
• religious groups;
• seminars, media, or fundraising events that are not an integral part of a broader program;
• capital construction;
• endowment funds; or,
• deficit financing.
