Weyerhaeuser Family Foundation: Children's Initiative

  • March 01, 2020

The goal of the Weyerhaeuser Family Foundation Children's Initiative is to support direct service programs that create and promote stability, resilience, and healing for children who have witnessed domestic violence.

Eligible programs must:

  • directly serve children 0 to 14 years of age who have witnessed domestic violence;
  • enhance the relationship between the child and parent/primary caregiver;
  • provide direct, age-appropriate services to address the impact of having witnessed domestic violence;
  • include a plan for an outcome-based assessment of the program activities; and,
  • be a new program (within the first year of development).

Priority will be given to those projects that:

  • include a specific domestic violence parenting education component;
  • offer therapeutic services beyond crisis intervention and the establishment of initial safety; and,
  • collaborate with other organizations to enhance services, measure outcomes, or expand and share knowledge.

The Foundation will not consider proposals for:

  • programs that do not directly impact or provide services to children;
  • ongoing programs or general operating support;
  • scholarships or individuals;
  • capital projects, including land acquisition or the construction of buildings;
  • conferences;
  • lobbying prohibited by the Internal Revenue Code;
  • endowments; or,
  • startup costs for new organizations.
